Digital Satellite Television Software

The signals of a digital satellite television system are first of all transmitted to satellites that orbit the earth which receives the signals. Then they amplify the signals and retransmit them back down to earth. Signals form these TV systems are transmitted by using satellites that stay at the same place in the sky in respect to the rotation of the earth. They are called geosynchronous satellites. I will also be discussing a top quality satellite TV to PC software that I am using to watch more than 3,500 HD Channels worldwide for free.

The main medium for transmitting in HD or high definition as it is called, is through this way. It has proven itself as the cutting edge technology and the best way to transmit high definition pictures and sound with little or no distortion to the picture and sound quality.

Free to air, another way of describing it, broadcasts signals which anyone can receive without any subscription legally. These transmissions are not encrypted, though usually it is encoded using the MPEG-2 compression technique.

Therefore unlike transmissions that require the user to go out and get a subscription to watch TV channels that are encrypted for nobody else to watch, these free television services provide unencrypted transmissions that is viewable to all who have receivers that are compatible to the MPEG-2 format.

The free transmissions were usually transmitted on the C band but now a lot of them have switched to the Ku band, allowing subscribers to receive the programs transmitted using much more smaller dishes.

You will need to know the frequencies and polarities of which, the channels are transmitted on if you require the reception of a free satellite feed. You will also require the forward error correction and symbol rate that the channel utilizes. Knowing the broadcast format is also needed whether it is PAL, NTSC, DVB, or DigiCypher.

Either a Ku or C band dish will be needed with a PC card or a receiver with an antenna. If you require reception of more than one channel on your PC, you will have to get a rotor also additional to the other requirements. You do not have to worry about any legal problems when receiving these feeds because it is free to air and is totally legal. It also works anywhere around the globe.

Purchasing of extra hardware such as a TV card to be fitted to your PC will not be needed if you already have some sought of software for displaying TV signals on your PC. How this software works does not require a dish or receiver or anything of that sought. What it does is pull all channels through links of various web sites and steam them live on your PC for watching.

Therefore all you will be wanting is a good internet connection, getting the application installed on your PC, and you are off to enjoy digital satellite television on your PC. This way there will be no need for you to pay any monthly subscriptions or any recurring charges to view your favorite TV programs. The total expense will be less than fifty dollars which will also be a onetime payment. I personally use a satellite TV on PC software that allows me to watch more than 3,000 international television channels online and highly recommend it.

how much does a portable digital tv cost?
just to be clear—I wanr something battery operated

If your TV has an antenna input, you could connect it to a converter box to watch the digital signals. Otherwise, it will soon become a relic of a bygone era.

On the other hand, I have seen some ads for portable DTVs.
